The SimplyHelp Foundation donated $250,000 to help build a Senior Center in Panama. On January 23, 2007, SimplyHelp representatives went to Panama to meet with the Panamanian Capital Archbishop Cedeno to sign an agreement stating SimplyHelp would to donate a total of $250,000 to construct a 9,000 square foot Senior Center in Los Santos.

Why Is It Needed?

Homeless elderly living on the street is unfortunately quite a common problem in Panama. Homeless seniors are actively sought out by SimplyHelp and invited to live in the SimplyHelp Senior Center.

Though a smaller share of the elderly is poor (29%), demographic changes indicate that these will become an important group in the future. There are very few programs in Panama at present to assist poor elderly citizens who fall outside the social security system.

Future Activities

The SimplyHelp Foundation is in the process of raising funds for the realization of the second phase of the Senior Center. In the second phase the senior center will be expanded to allow more homeless seniors to move in.
